Dear BBC, I am writing to you to request a DVD release of the works of Stewart Lee & Richard Herring, who wrote & performed shows for you in the mid to late 90s. In particular, I would like to see the release of BBC2's "Fist Of FUn", which was aired for two series in 1995 - 1996. Aside from the sheer quality, influence and artistic merit of the shows, there is a large demand for this product to be released, you need look no further than the wide circulation of bootleg offers on Ebay and various other outlets for proof. I'm sure the BBC would be able to put out a better package than these bootleggers, certainly the quality of the shows would be pristine. Going by the recent relase of the similarly revered "The Day Today", which included the unbroadcast pilot of the show, perhaps you still have material in the archive with which to compile an "extras" feature? The high demand for this show is further highlighted by the recent launch of a petition on the web (which can be found at http://www.fistoffun.net/petition.htm ). The site that hosts it has received a massive 45,000 hits in the last 3 years, which should tell you something in itself. A point was made by a signee of the petition, which is worthy of note. He mentions the release of Ben Elton's "Filthy Rich & Catflap". This successor to The Young Ones, which the BBC gave a video release in the 1990's has recently been released via Playback, who - I gather - bought the license for release from you, and have since watched the title fly off the shelves and up the New Releases charts. If this makes any point, I suppose it would be 'don't underestimate the selling power of "cult" releases'. And if nothing else, how about releasing the license so that someone can release Fist Of Fun? To re-iterate, please seriously consider releasing "Fist Of Fun" and other Lee & Herring material. Thanks http://www.fistoffun.net/petition.htm
