Here
at fistoffun.net, we're not going to house the downloads or
episode guides for On The Hour, they've already been covered
- and are available for download at Chris Morris fan site
cookdandbombd.co.uk.
Cookdandbombd
has been around for about four years now, and is - in part -
responsible for this site, as inspiration for a site covering
the work of Lee & Herring.
It's also an incredibly detailed & thorough fan site for
the work of Chris Morris - the maverick DJ that was brought
in by producer Armando Iannucci to front "On The Hour",
after hearing his ridiculous yet plausible mock news stories
on GLR.
You probably all know the story by know; Iannucci contacted
Morris proposing that he put his input to "On The Hour".
Morris would present, and also contributed a large percentage
of the writing, along with the core writing team of Iannucci,
Stewart Lee, Richard Herring, (their subsequent "showbiz
enemy") Patrick Marber, David Quantick, Steven Wells and
Andrew Glover. Additional material was provided by the cast;
Steve Coogan, David Schneider, Rebecca Front & Doon Makichan.
"On The Hour" won several awards - including
the 1992 Writer's Guild award for Best Comedy. Twelve episodes
were made between 1991 and 1992, as well as a short special
for Radio 1. All episodes exist in the BBC's archives, and a
compilation of two hours of material is available on a BBC Radio
Collection cassette.
You can download great quality captures of the shows at www.cookdandbombd.co.uk. |
