FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
www.fistoffun.net

How long's this site been going then?

FISTOFFUN.NET was launched in January 2002, so at the time of writing, it's just over it's second birthday - this version of the site was launched in March 2004.

Why don't you have the TV shows up for download?

(this is probably THE most frequently asked question) Because I simply don't have the web space. Infact, the majority of the webspace that houses the site's content has been donated by readers of the site (thankyou everyone!) - without these donations we couldn't house half the content that we've currently got. For a good resolution TV show to be put on the web, we're looking at high file sizes.
Plus I'm not too hot on encoding or any of that malarkey.
People do email from time to time with offers to encode the shows, but it's a question of where to upload them to. (Fancy donating some webspace?)
In the meantime, I know that there's some files doing the rounds on soulseek - http://www.slsknet.org.
Join the Cook'd and Bomb'd room, the people in there are probably your best bet at finding what you're after.
I may well set up a Fist Of Fun room before too long, also....

So, why did you do it?

I'd found myself on www.cookdandbombd.co.uk - a Chris Morris fan site with an extensive download section. After downloading the Morris shows, I recalled the Lee & Herring shows of a similar format. I only had one and a half series on tape, so I went looking for the rest on the net.
In doing so, I found a distinct lack of anything L&H related, apart from the official site, and the occasional out of date fan page with no downloads.
Knowing a little web design, I thought I'd make one myself & put out a few appeals for stuff to stick up on the site.
Eventually, after people had sent me a bunch of radio shows, I finally got around to knocking a site together, and here it is.
A year on & nearly 18 thousand hits later, I relaunched the site, and now - as the site goes into it's third year - we're at over 45,000 visits.
So, it seems I wasn't the only person looking for Lee & Herring downloads, and it's nice to have been able to provide these rarities.

Why are half the episode guides missing / some sections not finished?

Because there's a lot to go through!!!! I have other things to do besides trawling through TV & radio shows & transcribing them, I'd like this site to be as complete as possible, so eventually, I will get around to doing them - I'm sure - but it does take a lot of time, which I don't always have.
If anyone fancies contributing some guides (even if it's just one or two) to the site, please email me, it'll save me a lot of time.

Why is it not often updated?

Well, it's more of an archive site than anything. The idea was to get the otherwise unavailable radio shows up for people to download & share.
I'll update when there's something to report - when people send me new stuff to add to the site, or if there's some live shows going on - things like that.
You can always join the mailing list to receive updates when the site is amended.

Why do Lee & Herring not work as a double act any more?

You'd have to ask them for the answer to that one really. As understood, however, the situation is that after TMWRNJ finished it's second series, Rich & Stew went off on different projects, which took up a lot of time (Stew wrote a novel, "The Perfect Fool" and Rich went on to write the sitcom "Time Gentlemen Please" with Al Murray.) By the time these projects had finished, they had learned that TMWRNJ was not going to be recomissioned, so contiued to work on the projects they had arrived at seperately.
There seems to be a misconception in some areas that there was a massive falling out, which spelt the end of the partnership.
This is not the case, and the two remain friends and continue to support each other in their individual endeavours. Sometimes even contributing to each other's work.
While it seems unlikely the double act will return, there is an air of "never say never", if the right project turned up.
Meanwhile, Both Rich & Stew are enjoying success with their individual projects.

How do I get in touch?

If you want to contact Rich & Stew, then do so via their official websites - www.stewartlee.co.uk or www.richardherring.com.

If you want to get in touch with this site, then drop a line to FISTOFFUN@{-take_this_bit_out_its_here_to_prevent_spam-}STONEGRASS.COM - and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I only ask that you make sure the subject line has "fist of fun" in it somewhere - otherwise I'll probably mistake it for spam & delete it.
