FISTOFFUN.NET was first launched in January 2002, so at the time of
writing, it's just getting on for it's seventh year
It relaunched in 2004, and after 4 years was starting to look a little
stale & dated, so this (third) incarnation of the site went online
in November 2008

(this
is probably THE most frequently asked question)
The short answer is probably never.
You'd be surprised how many emails this site gets on the subject. If
you're thinking of mailing to ask, then please remember
that emailing will make no difference, as there is no BBC affiliation
to this site.
Anyway it's pretty much a given that the BBC will never release Fist
Of Fun or TMWRNJ.
You can, however, watch
all shows from both series on Stewart Lee's website.
In the previous incarnation of this site, a contributor created an online
petition requesting the release, which has received considerable attention,
but is ultimately probably futile, although it does show that there
is certainly enough interest.
It's not been included in this version of the site as it simply became
a magnet for spammers, and made no differnce.
VHS encodes of the shows become available from time to time (keep reading
for more info).
(this
is probably the second most asked question)
Because of web space. Holding a good quality video file takes a lot
of space & bandwidth and the majority of the webspace that houses
the site's content has been donated by readers of the site (thankyou
everyone!) - without these donations half the content that's been on
here over the years, simply wouldn't have been.
ALL THAT SAID - there is a chance we may be able to host some files
on this site shortly, and there's been talk of a torrent tracker to
help get some DVDs out there - so keep an eye out.
Also, there's now a lot of video clips on youtube & google video
& the like, and as previously mentioned, over at Stew's
official site you can view all the episodes of TMWRNJ & Fist
Of Fun online.
You'll also find high quality versions of the shows doing the rounds
on various bit torrent sites, UKNova
is a particularly good UK TV torrent site that often sees Lee &
Herring material being shared amongst its users.

This
site was really born out of a the discovery of www.cookdandbombd.co.uk
- an excellent Chris Morris fansite with an extensive download section.
The Chris Morris radio shows of 1994 are all available over there, and
served as a reminder of similarly-formatted Lee & Herring shows
from around that time.
Web searches found a distinct lack of anything L&H related, with
the exception of the official site, and the occasional out of date fan
page with no downloads.
A few appeals for stuff to put online were made, and after people had
contributed a bunch of radio shows, a fairly extensive archive had been
created & this site was built around it.
As time went on, contributions were added to the archive & the download
section grew, and it appears that quite a few people were on the lookout
for Lee & Herring material, so this site continues to exist in order
to help share these rarities around.

Yes,
very much so - if there's any old radio shows, appearances, magazine
articles, etc that you've got & can't see on the site, it's all worth
adding.
Anyone wanting to make any kind of contribution can get in touch on
the contact page.

It's
more of an archive site than anything.
The original idea was to get the otherwise unavailable radio shows up
for people to download & share.
The site has expanded a lot since that original idea, and as such is
updated when there's something to report, when people contribute new
stuff to add to the site, or if there's some live shows going on - things
like that.
Of course, Rich & Stew have both launched their individual sites
and maintain thorough archives on those, too - which wasn't the case
when this site was first started.

After
TMWRNJ finished it's second series, Rich & Stew went off on different
projects (Stew wrote a novel, "The Perfect Fool"
and Rich went on to write the sitcom "Time Gentlemen Please"
with Al Murray.)
By the time these projects had finished, they learned that TMWRNJ was
not recomissioned, so contiued to work on the projects they had arrived
at seperately.
There seems to be a misconception in some instances that there was a
falling out, which spelt the end of the partnership.
This is not the case, and the two remain friends and continue to support
each other's individual endeavours, sometimes even contributing to each
other's work.
There was a brief return to the double act for the benefit gig, "Tedstock"
at the start of 2007 (a bootleg of which can be viewed on youtube,
here) and a further reunion is scheduled for November 2008, but
a full reuinion of the double act is highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, Both Rich
& Stew are both enjoying
success with their individual projects.

If
you want to contact Rich & Stew, then you can do so via their official
websites - www.stewartlee.co.uk
or www.richardherring.com.
